A new law will be introduced to exonerate hundreds of Post Office branch managers caught up in the Horizon IT scandal.
Hundreds of subpostmasters were convicted of swindling money on the basis of evidence from a flawed IT system. Speaking at Prime Minister's Questions today (Wednesday), Rishi Sunak said they were victims of 'one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in our nation’s history'.

The government has been under increased pressure to set out how the the subpostmasters would be exonerated after the ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office renewed focus on the scandal. The government said previously that compensation had been paid to more than 2,700 claimants, but hundreds were also prosecuted over shortfalls in their branches caused by software errors.
Another 130 people have come forward since the ITV show aired. Former Post Office boss Paula Vennells announced yesterday she would give back her CBE after a petition received more than one million signatures.
