The Post Office chairman has been pushed out of his role following the Horizon IT scandal, reports say.
Henry Staunton was asked to leave the role today (Saturday January 27) after just a year, according to Sky News reports. It comes after mounting tensions with the firm's government shareholder due to revelations that hundreds of sub-postmasters were wrongly convicted over the faulty software.
Speaking to Sky News, a Department for Business and Trade spokesperson confirmed Mr Staunton had been forced out following a call with business secretary Kemi Badenoch this afternoon.

Mr Staunton, who has spent his career in FTSE boardrooms and previously chaired Phoenix Group, the insurance company, and WH Smith, the high street retailer, had been in the role since December 2022.
A Department for Business and Trade spokesperson said: "The Secretary of State today had a phone call with Henry Staunton, the Chair of Post Office Limited (POL).
"Following this call, we can confirm that he has been dismissed as POL Chair. An interim will be appointed shortly.
"It is important Post Office continues the essential work to implement the necessary operational and cultural changes needed within the business."
