Police descended on a street in Salford this afternoon (Saturday) after receiving reports of 'dangerous’ dogs ‘chasing children and attacking members of the public’.
Officers were scrambled to Fir Street in Cadishead where the dogs were reported to be ‘roaming’. A police helicopter and ‘numerous units’ were deployed to locate the dogs due to the reported ‘immediate risk to the public’.
In an update this evening Greater Manchester Police said a dog had been located and no injuries were reported. The force said the dog was ‘friendly’ with officers and has been taken for an assessment.

A post on the GMP Eccles, Cadishead, Barton & Irlam Facebook page this evening said: “UPDATE. This afternoon police received reports of dogs roaming Fir Street in Cadishead. The reports described the dogs as dangerous and included details of them chasing children and attacking members of the public.
“Due to the reported immediate risk to the public, our helicopter and numerous units were deployed to locate the dogs and protect the community.
“Thankfully, with no reported injuries, the dog was located. Friendly with officers, the dog has been taken to our kennels for assessment. If all is in order, it will be returned to its rightful owner.”
