Police appeal to public as man arrested after Rawtenstall stabbing

A man has been arrested after a stabbing in Rossendale last week.
Police say they were called to reports of a stabbing on Bacup Road in the Lancashire town of Rawtenstall last Monday morning (September 26). A 35 year old male has since been arrested and had been released under investigation.
The victim was taken to hospital, and is in a stable condition. Patrols have since been stepped up in the area, but officers say there is 'nothing to suggest the public in general are at any risk'.

Police are now appealing to the public for more information about the incident, which took place at around 8am last Monday.
In a statement, Rossendale Police said: "On Monday 26th there was an incident in Bacup Road, Rawtenstall where a male reported having been stabbed.
"The male was taken to hospital where he is in a stable condition. A 35 year old male has been arrested and had been released under investigation. We are now appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time or has any other information in connection to it to call 101 and quote log 0197 of the 26th or via crimestoppers.
"It is important to point out that at this time there is nothing to suggest the public in general are at any risk. Neighbourhood patrols have been stepped up in the area and the investigation remains with Burnley CID."
