With energy bills set to rise again, one plumber has shared a tip to help you "channel the warmth" into your room faster, saving both time and money.
With temperatures plummeting as the winter weather sets in, it can be difficult to stay warm resulting in no other option than to crank the heating up full blast. Thankfully, there are some easy fixes, as writes The Mirror. Clearing your radiators of obstacles is key to getting the most out of your heating, according to the expert.
This includes things like sofas that trap the heat behind it. The expert adds that to "channel the warmth into the room", you should "put shelves above any radiators to stop hot air rising." You can also "cover a thin sheet of card with tinfoil and place it behind your radiators." Doing this will help "reflect the heat back into the room" and help to heat up your room faster as well as retaining more heat for longer.
It is also hugely important to "bleed your radiators" to get "rid of air pockets". To check if your radiators are in need of bleeding, touch all over each radiator to check if it is getting warm all over, not just the bottom half.
Mark Ingram, technical gas and plumbing tutor at Engineering Real Results (ERR) said, about bleeding radiators: "As time goes on and the temperatures get cooler the demand will only get higher and people may find they have to wait days for an engineer to become available to fix their problem.
"If when you touch all of the radiators you notice any cold spots, you might need to bleed air out of the system, which is an easy job people can
