A picture showing a man 'holding a mobile phone to his ear' in the 1930s has conspiracy theorists believing it 'proves time travel is real'. The image has split people with some believing it is 'rubbish' while others believe it is proof of time travel.
The controversial image was captured by an American photographer in Brooklyn’s Union Square in 1936, according to the Sun. However, despite the reported date of the picture being taken there is something standing out that is not a part of that time period.
A man who is seen at the front of the picture looks to be holding a mobile phone to his ear. But that piece of technology was not widely available until the 1980s, reports the Mirror.
The fact the device was spotted almost 50 years before it became part of mainstream society has many conspirators in a frenzy. They believe the mystery man is a time traveller and that the image proves their theory of time travelling is correct.
However, others believe that the man could be holding something else or even just scratching his ear. The debate between the two has raged hard online with both sets of thinking stuck in their views.
Many people believe even if it was a phone, it wouldn't work during to there being no service during the ear. One person said: "So, who is he phoning exactly ?
"If he's the only one with a mobile phone. Another agreed, stating:" What a load of rubbish, there were no mobile services available in those days so a mobile phone would not work.
"Whatever they were holding it wasn't a mobile phone. Someone else believed the man was just scratching his ear.
They said: "He is scratching his ear, I don't see a mobile, where was a reception tower in those days.
