Numerous Emmerdale fans were brought to tears on Monday night after much-loved character Marlon Dingle suffered a tragic stroke. Mark Charnock, who has played the Yorkshire chef since first joining the show 25 years ago, has been praised nationwide for his heart-wrenching acting skills during the episode when the dramatic scenes unfolded. And Mark's surreal portrayal seems to have hit home in particular with This Morning host Phillip Schofield, who has commended him for his astonishing performance.
Whilst discussing gossip in the Dales and other soaps with co-presenter Alison Hammond and resident soap expert Sharon Marshall, Phil, 59, exclaimed: "Can I just say – we're moving onto Emmerdale – how brilliant Mark Charnock was last night?" Obviously, Marlon had his stroke last night and in the commercial break, there was stroke information. "It was like everybody getting together, and the way it was done, I thought, was really very powerful." "He's extraordinary," Sharon agreed. "I'm probably biased because I'm working with him, but you've got people like Russell T.
Davis tweeting today going, 'That was so amazing, he's one of the finest actors that we've got', and it's right. "I thought they were all terrific, the whole cast playing on it. It's a long-running story, it wasn't just a one-episode-one-moment; they wanted to tell the story absolutely properly.
