The genre’s streaming-assisted surge to the top has been steadily increasing over the past several years but 2023 is proving to be its most impressive year yet. With the record-shattering entry of Morgan Wallen’s new album, “One Thing at a Time” (Republic/Big Loud) on March 3, Wallen scored the biggest opening week numbers of 2023 for any album by units earned (501,000). He also had the fifth-largest streaming week ever with approximately 76% of “One Thing at a Time’s” half-million opening units coming from its impact on DSPs.

The six-song EP, which incorporates songs in English and Korean, scored the second-biggest opening week for an album this year with the equivalent of 164,000 sales in the U.S., according to data by Luminate. It follows Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time,” which broke through with half a million units in mid-March and remains at the top of the Billboard 200 for a fourth week on the chart dated April 8. “Face” debuts with 124,000 copies sold as a complete package and nearly 20 million streams. It was preceded by Jimin’s first top 40-charting song as a soloist on the songs list, “Set Me Free, Pt. 2″ (debuted at No. 30). Meanwhile, “Like Crazy” tops this week’s Hot 100 chart, sliding Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” to a No. 2 slot.

The 58th annual edition of the show will be seen on Amazon Prime Video exclusively for the second consecutive year. The ACM Awards left broadcast television behind last year after having aired on CBS from 1998 through 2021, and on ABC and NBC through the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. “While I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with (Brooks) throughout the years,” Parton said in a statement, “I can’t believe we’ve never had the chance to work together.” Parton additionally said that she will be premiering the debut single from her upcoming “rock” album on the show, fulfilling a vow she made to produce a genre-specific record when she was elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The last album by a woman to have achieved 10 weeks at No. 1 was Adele’s “25” (2015), and before that, Taylor Swift’s “1989” achieved the mark with 11 weeks (2014). Since its December debut, “SOS” has been a steady streaming giant. In its first week on the charts, “SOS” posted 405 million on-demand streams — the fifth-largest streaming week of 2022 and the second-largest streaming week ever for an album by a female artist (Swift’s “Midnights” tallied 549.26 million). This week, the record keeps its hold on the summit by earning the equivalent of 87,000 album units in the U.S. and 118 million streams, according to data by Luminate via Billboard.
Morgan Wallen’s ex, KT Smith, was in a nasty car crash in Nashville on Wednesday and revealed she suffered bad facial injuries as a result. Smith shared images of the wrecked car on her Instagram stories, writing, "thankful to be alive," and tagged two friends, Caden McGuire and Gabriella Payant. In the week ending Feb. 16, SZA’s sophomore release earned 93,000 units in the U.S. and 127 million streams according to data by Luminate. Following Rihanna’s highly-anticpated return to the stage for the Super Bowl halftime set on Feb. 12, the star’s 2016 release “Anti” rebounded to No. 8 on the chart (from its prevous No. 50 position) with 36,000 album units sold. On Spotify, her streams spiked more than 640% across the U.S, while streams for the set’s opening track, “Bitch Better Have My Money,” surged by over 2,600%.
