Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready opened the Seattle Mariners’ baseball game with Detroit Tigers last night (October 4) with a blistering rendition of the US national anthem.He previously played it at a 2019 University of Washington American football game, as well as a 2014 Seattle Sounders soccer match. We worked with Andrew Watt, who’s a younger pop producer-type guy, but he’s really a rock guy at heart — I think we’re his favorite band.

Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready has revealed that he is writing a rock opera about Chris Cornell and the Seattle grunge scene.Pearl Jam and Cornell’s band Soundgarden emerged from the Pacific Northwest city around the same time, and became lynchpins of the scene along with Nirvana.In a new interview with Guitar World, McCready revealed that he is working on a project with which to remember the scene and the late Cornell.“I look at him as one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time, aside from being a friend,” McCready said of Cornell.“I love Chris and I’m working on a little project about the Seattle scene and a musical kind of rock opera thing. It’s just from my experience in the Seattle music scene, and he’s part of it.”He added that he currently sees the project as incorporating “a record and maybe some sort of stage/play thing,” adding: “I’m working on a script and I’ve got about 18 songs that I’m working on, and I’m singing on it.

Ethan Shanfeld Chris Shiflett, longtime axeman of the Foo Fighters, is launching a podcast about all things guitar. “My new show, ‘Shred With Shifty,’ was born out of the fact that I spend an awful lot of time watching people on the internet explain guitar parts almost right, so I thought, what if I could just go to the source and find out what my favorite players actually did on the solos I love?” Shiflett told Variety in a statement. Led Zeppelin‘s Jimmy Page has given an update on new music, revealing that he’s currently working on “multiple projects”.“There’s various things I’m working towards,” Page told Classic Rock magazine in a new interview.“It’s not just one thing, it’s multiple things, and I don’t want to even give a hint, because if you do … you give a one-sentence sound bite, and then if it doesn’t materialise, it’s like: ‘Why didn’t you do a solo album?’ So I don’t want to say what it is that I’ve got planned, because I don’t want to give people the chance to misinterpret it.”Of his new album, he added: “I really can’t put on record what the new record is. It's been seven years since rock fans have gotten a new album from Pearl Jam. But on Friday (March 27), the band released their eleventh studio album, Gigaton.Produced by Josh Evans and the band, the new effort follows 2013's Lightning Bolt, which took home a Grammy for best recording package.

Pearl Jam gave rock fans a taste of their upcoming album, Gigaton, with their new single, "Dance of the Clairvoyants." On Wednesday (Jan. 29), the band unveiled the tune's cinematic music video.The clip weaves scenes of the group performing the song with stunning scenes of nature and the Earth, including mountains, raindrops, the night sky, deserts, forests and more.

Pearl Jam have announced their first studio album in over six years. It’s called Gigaton and it arrives March 27 (via Monkeywrench/Republic). Gigaton follows Pearl Jam’s 2013 album Lightning Bolt. Check out the album cover, which features Paul Nicklen’s photograph Ice Waterfall, below.
