Pep Guardiola believes Jack Grealish could play in a central role for Manchester City after finishing the win against Young Boys at the Etihad in that role.
Jeremy Doku came on for Mateo Kovacic with just over 10 minutes to go at the Etihad and Guardiola lined the Belgian on the left, Phil Foden on the right and Grealish in a central attacking role, with Julian Alvarez an unused substitute.
Grealish was superb in the second half against the Swiss champions and produced a lively cameo when unleashed centrally, having had very little chance to play that role in his City career since his £100million switch from Aston Villa, where he was regularly used in the middle to influence games.

Using Grealish in the middle in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne could be a way to get him, Doku and Foden in the same side, with all three in excellent form, although Alvarez has also shone in that position in the absence of the Belgian.
Guardiola certainly believes Grealish could play there for City, however, although it might require a freer role for him to do so than some of the other options.
"He can do it. Jack can play in that position a little more free, but at the same time defensively, not because he doesn't have heart or spirit to defend, it’s amazing how he can help us, but he can play there," said Guardiola.
Grealish provided the assist for Foden's goal against Young Boys, which came sandwiched between another double for Erling Haaland, but he is still yet to get off the mark himself this season and said after the game he knew he had to add more goals to his game.
