Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes Manchester City ace Julian Alvarez can benefit from being in Erling Haaland's shadow.
Alvarez, who helped Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar last year, has made a highly encouraging start to this season, scoring seven goals and registering four assists in his first 15 appearances. His attacking output is a direct result of him forcing his way into manager Pep Guardiola's first-choice starting XI.
The Argentine, who will turn 24 in January, has started all of City's opening nine Premier League games this season, chipping in with four goals and three assists. He has often linked up with Haaland, who has operated just ahead of him, forming a deadly partnership.

The Norwegian, following his brace against BSC Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday, is now up to 11 goals for the season, meaning it is still difficult for Alvarez to establish himself as City's main man. Nevertheless, Berbatov is adamant the former River Plate striker can thrive alongside Haaland.
Berbatov, speaking to Betfair, said: "In football you have players, in the case of Haaland, who you just can't escape being in their shadow because they produce so much quality. Haaland is going to show that quality for many years to come.
"Alvarez has had a great start to the season, but he is in his teammate's shadow at the moment and he knows that. The only way you can get out of that shadow is if you perform and be better in every game and build your own shadow for someone else to be under.
