Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler & More Confirmed To Join Ari Aster’s A24 Pic ‘Eddington’

Having directed Brendan Fraser to a Best Actor Oscar in his last film, “The Whale,” filmmaker Darren Aronofsky is setting his sights on his next project. A crime thriller called “Caught Stealing,” based on the book penned by Charlie Huston, the project has landed a rising young actor.

Filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (“The Favourite“) is easily one of the most exciting filmmakers on the planet, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long for his follow-up to “Poor Things.” Searchlight Pictures, who previously distributed Lanthimos’ last two movies, has dropped a first-look trailer for “Kind of Kindness,” which will be released on June 21. The impressive cast assembled around Oscar-winner Emma Stone in Lanthimos’ next film “Kind of Kindness” includes Jesse Plemons (“Civil War,” “Killers of The Flower Moon”), Willem Dafoe (“Poor Things,” “The Lighthouse”), Margaret Qualley (“Drive-Away Dolls”), Hong Chau (“The Whale,” “The Menu”), Joe Alwyn (“The Favourite”), Mamoudou Athie (“Elemental,” “Jurassic World: Dominion”), and Hunter Schafer (“Cuckoo,” “Euphoria”).

Ever since “Beau Is Afraid,” horror filmmaker Ari Aster has been touting his next project, a follow-up project that reunites him with Joaquin Phoenix. Describing it as a “Western comedy” set during the pandemic, the cast details are finally out via A24 (see below), confirming several rumors about the project over the past few months.

Jordan Moreau Best picture nominee “Poor Things” is streaming on Hulu ahead of the Academy Awards. The film, a Frankenstein-esque tale directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe, arrived on Hulu on Thursday morning. It’s nominated for 11 Oscars, including best picture, lead actress and director.

The thawing of the winter box office continues this weekend with Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 4 which is bound to see the franchise’s second highest domestic opening at $50M+ at 3,900 theaters after the original 2008 movie ($60.2M).
