EXCLUSIVE: Ari Aster‘s new A24 film Eddington has rounded out its cast with four additions: William Belleau (Killers of the Flower Moon), Cameron Mann (Mare of Easttown), Matt Gomez Hidaka (Silo), and Amélie Hoeferle (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes).

Ari Aster, the visionary filmmaker behind horror pics Hereditary and Midsommar and last year’s darkly comic Beau Is Afraid, has locked in his starriest cast yet for his next A24 film, Eddington. Actors set to join the previously announced Joaquin Phoenix include Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), Emma Stone (fresh off her second Oscar win for Poor Things), Luke Grimes (Yellowstone), Dune: Part Two‘s Austin Butler, Deirdre O’Connell (Outer Range), Micheal Ward (Top Boy), and Clifton Collins Jr. (Jockey).

Alex Ritman Oscar-winner and 2024 Berlinale jury president Lupita Nyong’o (“Black Panther,” “12 Years a Slave”) and Chloe Grace Moretz (“The Peripheral,” “The Miseducation of Cameron Post”) are set to enter the ring for the UFC-based mixed martial arts drama “Strawweight.” The film — being launched at the European Film Market by WME Independent and CAA Media Finance — follows the journeys of two fighters who find themselves competing against each other in the Octagon. One is a young woman (Moretz) whose life is changed forever when she discovers her passion for the UFC, while the other is a former champion (Nyong’o) who is determined to reclaim her title by reinventing herself.

Peter Debruge Chief Film Critic Austin-based indie directors David and Nathan Zellner have spent more time thinking about Sasquatch than most filmmakers do musing about human beings. In 2011, they brought “Sasquatch Birth Journal 2” to the Sundance Film Festival, a four-minute faux nature documentary in which a hirsute creature can be seen giving birth to an equally furry infant.

Valerie Wu Intern Directing duo David and Nathan Zellner’s latest film “Sasquatch Sunset,” starring Riley Keough (“Daisy Jones and the Six”) and Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”), is slated for a theatrical release by film distribution company Bleecker Street in 2024. No plot details have yet been announced. The film depicts “a year in the life of a singular family,” according to its description, and Eisenberg will be playing a hairy, big-footed Sasquatch, which he previously relayed to Variety.

Bleecker Street has quietly snapped up U.S. rights to Sasquatch Sunset, the newest feature from renowned brother filmmakers David and Nathan Zellner (Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter), for release in theaters in 2024.

Set in the late 1940s, “Lonely Hearts Club” is described as a darkly comedic true crime thriller about a lonely woman who falls in love with a dim but handsome con man. Together they form an unlikely “Loser-Bonnie-and-Clyde”-style partnership that ends in lies, murder and the electric chair. The show is based on an episode of Ashley Flowers’ Crime Junkie podcast entitled “Infamous: The ‘Lonely Hearts’ Killers.”

One of 2023’s most mysterious movies just got much less mysterious, as A24 has debuted the brand-new trailer for “Midsommar” and “Hereditary” director Ari Aster’s latest film, “Beau Is Afraid.”Up until now all we had were snippets of information – Aster himself described it as a four-hour-long “nightmare comedy” back in 2020, and it was described as being a decades-spanning epic set in an alternate version of modern-day America. Oscar-winning star Joaquin Phoenix was said to go on a decades-spanning odyssey battling demons both psychological and literal.

Kristoffer Borgli’s newest film Dream Scenario, which Deadline first reported, has added Emmy Award winner Julianne Nicholson, Dylan Baker, Kate Berlant, Michael Cera, Dylan Gelula and Tim Meadows to star alongside Nicolas Cage. Filming stars this month.

EXCLUSIVE: Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen have made a two-year first-look television deal at A24 for their Square Peg banner. The duo formed their company in 2019 after teaming on Hereditary, which Aster wrote and directed and Knudsen produced, and then Midsommar, on which they served the same roles. A24 released both films.
