Diehard fans of Peaky Blinders may be distraught that the BBC drama is soon coming to a close, as the sixth and final season reaches its anticipated conclusion. However, the acclaimed show’s creator Steven Knight has teased details of the series’ upcoming film, including how they will continue to pay tribute to late actress Helen McCrory and her much-loved character Aunt Polly. Helen, who died in April 2021, was a major fan favourite in the show thanks to her powerhouse performance and the show has continued to mention her throughout series six.

Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, has given some more information about what fans can expect from the upcoming Peaky Blinders film.Speaking to Metro UK, Knight said of the upcoming film: “I know exactly what’s going to happen, I know what the story is and I’m writing at the moment.”He added: “It’s a very specific story, that’s based on a true story from the Second World War and will be told in the Peaky way.”He also went on to say that new character Hayden Stagg, played by Stephen Graham, could also be involved in the film, which is expected to hit cinemas in 2023.“I’ve wanted him in [the series] for a long time and this series, we managed to get the schedules aligned,” Knight said of Graham.“I was writing a character, set in the Liverpool Docks and I knew, it could only be him. Peaky Blinders star Joe Cole has opened up about leaving the hit BBC show, which returned to screens last weekend (February 27).The actor played John Shelby in the show, brother of Tommy Shelby played by Cillian Murphy. He held the role for three seasons before leaving in 2017.Speaking to Radio Times about leaving the show, Cole said he had no regrets.“In society we’re told to play by the rules and live your life in a certain way,” he began.
