‘Peaky Blinders’ finale will be a feature-length episode

Check out the single ‘Ain’t No Grave’ along with our interview with Calvi below.Following on from the weekend’s epic season six finale, the Mercury-nominated Calvi today announced details of an EP comprising two original songs inspired by lead character Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy), along with covers of show staples by Bob Dylan and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Bob Dylan‘s ‘All The Tired Horses’, which soundtracked the end of the Peaky Blinders finale on Sunday (April 3).The Irish singer-songwriter’s rendition appeared at the end of season six of the hit BBC drama series, which bowed out at the weekend after nearly a decade on screens.O’Neill said: “It is not an overstatement to say that it was beyond my wildest dreams to be ‘Ordered by the Peaky Fucking Blinders’ to cover this beautiful song from Bob Dylan.“We recorded this version of ‘All The Tired Horses’ in an old horse stables in Cabinteely, South Dublin over the space of two days,” she continued.“We recorded by constant candlelight as a dear friend was dying at the time. This all contributed to the energy and the charge of the final track.

Peaky Blinders fans have questioned if the season six finale was the last we’ll be seeing of the Shelby family or not. While fans knew the sixth season would be Peaky Blinders’ last, its finale threw a spanner in the works and appeared to leave the storyline open-ended. Frontman Tommy Shelby was diagnosed with tuberculoma earlier on in the series, leading the gangster-turned-politician to prepare for death.

Sleaford Mods frontman Jason Williamson made a cameo appearance in the final episode of Peaky Blinders.In the episode titled ‘Lock and Key’, Williamson made a brief appearance as ranting preacher Lazarus outside The Garrison pub alongside Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson). Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, has given some more information about what fans can expect from the upcoming Peaky Blinders film.Speaking to Metro UK, Knight said of the upcoming film: “I know exactly what’s going to happen, I know what the story is and I’m writing at the moment.”He added: “It’s a very specific story, that’s based on a true story from the Second World War and will be told in the Peaky way.”He also went on to say that new character Hayden Stagg, played by Stephen Graham, could also be involved in the film, which is expected to hit cinemas in 2023.“I’ve wanted him in [the series] for a long time and this series, we managed to get the schedules aligned,” Knight said of Graham.“I was writing a character, set in the Liverpool Docks and I knew, it could only be him. Peaky Blinders has responded to some criticism of the latest season.While the season has been largely praised by critics and fans alike, some have criticised the pacing of the show and its lack of action when compared to previous seasons.Director Anthony Byrne, who worked on both seasons five and six, told Radio Times that he has “no problem” with criticism but added: “you can’t continue to give people what they’re expecting.”He continued: “You’re taking a show like Peaky that is culturally relevant, it’s a TV phenomenon, and there’s an expectation of, ‘I want Arthur kicking the s**t out of people and I want Tommy being Tommy and more Peaky stuff.’“Season four was that. Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke has shared a new song written for the sixth season of Peaky Blinders – check out the haunting ‘5.17’ below.Last month, Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne revealed to NME that Yorke and  Radiohead bandmate Jonny Greenwood have contributed some new and original music to the upcoming sixth and final season of the show.“I’m over the moon about all of that,” Byrne said. “The music has always been really important historically, and I was really keen to bring a dramatic score into it.

Peaky Blinders’ final series, the original soundtrack is getting a vinyl release.The 49 tracks of music and dialogue from the show’s first five seasons will be spread across three blood-red LPs.The vinyl release will feature two versions of Peaky Blinders’ iconic theme tune ‘Right Hand Red’ – the original by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds as well as a reworked version by PJ Harvey.Other tracks included are Jack White‘s ‘Love Is Blindness’, Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Do I Wanna Know?’, Radiohead’s ‘You and Whose Army?’ and ‘Lazarus’ by David Bowie.Songs by Royal Blood, Laura Marling, The White Stripes and Queens Of The Stone Age will also appear.
