The Lions were 2-0 down at Firhill and looking like bowing out of the fifth round, only to stage a stirring comeback and win 3-2.
Martindale said they could have crumbed and accepted defeat, but instead progressed to the quarter-finals.
“I’m going to go home and go to bed. I might sleep,” said Martindale. “I’ve not been sleeping, I’ve been on a regulation diet for three months.”
Livingston’s nightmare run looked like continuing as Kerr McInroy fired Thistle into a 27th-minute lead, blasting a low shot in from 30 yards past helpless Michael McGovern.
But when Aiden Fitzpatrick took advantage of poor distribution from the Irishman in 61 minutes, then a capitulation looked to be on the cards.
Livingston pulled themselves back into the game in .. minutes when a corner from the left was met with a header by Ayo Obileye, and when Jamie Sneddon saved that, Joel Nouble was on hand for a tap-in.

Tomi Adeloye nearly won it for Thistle in extra-time, smacking a post with a dipping, curling effort.
But Tete Yengi instead bagged it for Livi in 120 minutes, sending a glancing header into the left corner with moments to spare before the lottery of penalties would have settled the tie.
Martindale said: “I felt today the boys could have crumbled very, very easily.
“They could have gone under, 2-0 down, felt sorry for themselves, accepted defeat, and away you go.
“They never did that.
“I felt the substitutions really helped us in the game.
