Attorney Ben Crump welcomed news Wednesday that two Louisville, Ky., police officers will most likely be terminated from the force over their roles in the death of Breonna Taylor. Detectives Myles Cosgrove and Joshua Jaynes were both recently served with termination paperwork over the botched March 13 drug raid on Taylor's apartment.The FBI concluded Cosgrove fired the shot that killed Taylor.

The head of Boston’s largest police union accused a defense attorney who handed over videos allegedly showing officers using excessive force during demonstrations in June following the death of George Floyd of "stitching together" a narrative, arguing the "real enemy" that night were "cop-hating anarchists" who "showed up to a peaceful protest armed for violence and looking for a fight." An unidentified police sergeant was placed on administrative leave after the videos were published online

A judge in Minnesota is upholding his decision to livestream the trial against the four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd.  In a ruling issued Friday, Hennepin County District Court Judge Peter Cahill cited the immense global interest in the case and limited courthouse space amid the "unique and unprecedented situation" brought by the coronavirus pandemic, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.The trial is scheduled for March 2021.

Lil Baby helped to throw a birthday party for George Floyd’s daughter Gianna yesterday (December 16).According to Forbes, the party had been in the works since July, when Gianna visited restaurant owners and family friends Ericka and William Platt. She turned seven yesterday.The Platts enlisted a friend of their own, NBA star Stephen Jackson, with whom they began brainstorming ideas for the celebration.Lil Baby then offered to fund the event, which took place at Atlanta’s Pink Hotel.

Mississippi police responded Monday to a Goodwill drop-off where a healthy 2-year-old boy was abandoned with a change of clothes and a note that said, “child abandoned…no phone number for mom,” according to reports. “The male child is approximately 2 years old and is unable to give his name or the names of his parents or relatives,” the Southaven Police Department said on Facebook.

Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis President Bob Kroll on Thursday morning criticized a decision by the Minneapolis City Council to move $8 million from the city's police force to mental health and violence prevention programs as part of the latest city budget.  The cut comes as Minneapolis, like many other major American cities, is dealing with a spike in violence. It also comes months after the death of George Floyd, a Black man, who died while in Minneapolis police custody.

The Minneapolis City Council, the city where George Floyd earlier this year died while in the custody of its police department, passed a budget Thursday morning that will cut its police funding by $8 million and use the money for mental health and violence prevention programs.  The plan for the shifting of police funding, called "Safety for All," follows the city council's stalled attempt to completely dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department earlier this year.
