A judge in Minnesota is upholding his decision to livestream the trial against the four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd. In a ruling issued Friday, Hennepin County District Court Judge Peter Cahill cited the immense global interest in the case and limited courthouse space amid the "unique and unprecedented situation" brought by the coronavirus pandemic, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.The trial is scheduled for March 2021.

Prosecutors handling the Minneapolis case involving four former police officers charged in the death of George Floyd have asked that the trial be delayed by three months, citing coronavirus concerns, according to a report. In a recently filed court motion, prosecutors cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the amount of time needed before enough people are vaccinated and health risks are sufficiently diminished as their reason for the request, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
The Minneapolis Police Department on Thursday released body camera footage of the shooting death of Dolal Idd, the first police killing since George Floyd died during an encounter with officers in May. Idd's father, Bayle Gelle, of Eden Prairie, identified his 23-year-old son as the man shot Wednesday evening at a gas station during a traffic stop for a felony warrant, the Star Tribune reported.
