Sam Heughan is relishing the opportunity to finally talk about his latest projects.
The Scots actor, best known for playing Jamie Fraser in Outlander, got to sink his teeth into a totally different role for new Channel 4 thriller 'The Couple Next Door, which hits screens next week.
Sam appears alongside former Poldark actress Eleanor Tomlinson, Pennyworth's Jessica De Gouw and How To Get Away With Murder's Alfred Enoch.
It comes ahead of filming starting for the eighth and final season of Outlander - the smash hit historical time-travel drama set and filmed in Scotland, which the 43-year-old has starred in for a decade.
He hasn’t been able to promote or discuss his work over the past few months due to the Hollywood strikes. Since actors union Sag-Aftra came to a 'tentative' agreement with studio bosses to end the historic 118-day strike earlier this month, Sam has been flooding fans with details of his upcoming work - and some long awaited sneak peeks behind the scenes at filming for Outlander season seven.
Speaking at a recent Q & A to promote the Channel 4 show, Sam said he will be sad to move on from the show that made his name, but he’s “excited” to be able to try new things.
He told the Express: “It’s been a decade of my life, probably longer, and it’s been incredible. It’s changed my life. It’s given me opportunities like this.
“It will be bittersweet.
“It’s cool to play new characters but it’ll be sad to leave the show.”
Sam stars as police officer Danny, married to De Gouw’s character, a yoga teacher called Becka. They strike up a friendship with Tomlinson and Enoch’s Evie and Pete, who have moved to their neighbourhood in suburban Leeds.
