For many middle and high schoolers, “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee has been a cornerstone of their literary education. And now, the hit stage version made the move from the Broadway stage to Madison Square Garden, playing to a packed auditorium of New York students on Wednesday.

Filmmaker and basketball superfan Spike Lee paid tribute to Kobe Bryant on the 2020 Oscars red carpet by wearing a purple suit emblazoned with the late sports icon’s jersey number.

Spike Lee is wearing his love, admiration and respect for Kobe Bryant on his sleeve -- literally -- at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards.The Oscar-winning director arrived for this year's ceremony on Sunday night (Feb. 9) wearing a Gucci tuxedo bearing the number of the late Los Angeles Lakers legend, along with the Lakers' colors of purple and gold. "24" was not only emblazoned on the lapels of Lee's custom formalwear, but across the back of his jacket as well.

Spike Lee might be a life-long New York Knicks fan, but he showed major love for Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant at Sunday's Academy Awards. 

Director Spike Lee is no stranger to making a statement with his fashion choices, and for this year’s Oscars, he has used style to pay tribute to the late basketball player Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant was not forgotten on the 2020 Oscars red carpet. 

Spike Lee paid a fashionable tribute to Kobe Bryant at Sunday’s Oscars by wearing a purple and gold tuxedo, made by Gucci, with the number 24 stitched onto his lapels.

Adam Sandler joked his “independent personality will shine on forever” as he scooped the Best Male Lead for his role in Uncut Gems at the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday.

Upon accepting their best first screenplay award at the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards, See You Yesterday writers Stefon Bristol and Ferdrica Bailey thanked Jesus Christ, their families and Spike Lee.The Do the Right Thing director, upon hearing his name, cheered for the two writers and gave them a standing ovation."This is fantastic I was not expecting this.

Spike Lee has signed on to direct a film adaptation of David Byrne’s American Utopia, Deadline reports. The feature-length version of Byrne’s hit Broadway show is slated for a 2020 release, and will be executive produced by Participant alongside Byrne, Lee, and others. The film will be produced by Byrne’s Todomundo and Lee’s Forty Acres and a Mule Filmworks production companies, as well as RadicalMedia.
