Spike Lee Honors Kobe Bryant With a Purple and Gold Suit at the Oscars

For many middle and high schoolers, “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee has been a cornerstone of their literary education. And now, the hit stage version made the move from the Broadway stage to Madison Square Garden, playing to a packed auditorium of New York students on Wednesday.

Alicia Keys is celebrating the life of Kobe Bryant through her musical talents.  During Monday morning's celebration of life ceremony for the Los Angeles Lakers basketball player and his daughter Gianna Bryant, Alicia performed a special song, described as one of Kobe and wife Vanessa Bryant's "favorite numbers," inside the Staples Center.

They may no longer be here physically, but Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant's memories live on with Vanessa Bryant. During Monday's public memorial at the Staples Center, Vanessa earned a standing ovation as she stepped up to the podium to deliver a beautiful and emotional speech honoring her late husband and 13-year-old daughter.  "First I'd like to thank everyone for coming today," she began her moving eulogy.

"24" was not only emblazoned on the lapels of Lee's custom formalwear, but across the back of his jacket as well.
