Only Fools and Horses star John Challis' nephew, Simon, has died, his family has confirmed. And they've been left heartbroken after Simon's watch was cruelly stolen from his body. John Challis played Boycie in the popular TV comedy, and his wife took to Twitter to share the news, saying: "Simon’s personal belongings were returned to us today from Germany, at last.
"Sadly his wristwatch was missing. Disappointing that someone should feel the need to help themselves. God bless these two, my much loved husband and his friend, my nephew Si." Carol's Twitter followers were quick to offer their condolences and condemn the theft.
One said: "Despicable that someone would steal from someone’s personal property.
Thoughts are with you all." While another commented: "That’s absolutely unbelievable. I’m sorry that’s happened." A third added: "That is so sad that someone could steal such precious belongings from a grieving family. So very sorry you’ve lost your nephew." Only Fools and Horses ran on TV from 1981 to 2003 and starred David Jason as Del Boy, with Nicholas Lyndhurst as his half-brother, Rodney.
Storylines revolved around their hilarious wheeler-dealer schemes – which always failed – in an attempt to become millionaires. John Challis, who died after a battle with cancer in September 2021, aged 79, played their friend Terrance Boyce, commonly known as Boycie. Boycie's distinctive laugh was a favourite amongst fans and the character even earned his own spin-off, called The Green Green Grass, which aired from 2005 to 2009.
