An Only Fools and Horses episode is believed to have been banned by the show's creator as he had felt it portrayed Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter badly.
The special festive episode 'A Royal Flush', which was written and created by the late John Sullivan, originally been broadcast on the BBC on Christmas Day in 1986. During the episode, Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst) meets the daughter of a duke, with brother Del Boy (David Jason) then trying to help him make a good impression.
When it first broadcast, the episode raked in 18 million viewers but it has been branded as one of the worst episodes of the show, with creator Sullivan said to have "hated it" himself. Sullivan is said to have taken issue with the portrayal of Del Boy in the episode, which was reportedly completed just hours before broadcast and had no audience laughter, writes The Mirror.
Del Boy has been considered out of character in 'A Royal Flush,' with him belittling Rodney at a posh dinner and threatening an audience member at the opera as well.
It's understood that the original version of the episode was released on VHS in 1998 - almost a decade after it had first aired - with it later issued in DVD format in 2005. The DVD version however is said to have been heavily edited at Sullivan's request, with audience laughter added over it and around 18 minutes of footage purportedly cut.
The edited version reportedly featured in subsequent releases and TV repeats, though both versions of the episode were remastered for a Blu-Ray collection last year.
According to the Daily Star, the original version had actually even been banned by Sullivan at one point, because of the way that Del Boy came across during some scenes.
The outlet reports that the episode will be discussed

As Sebastian J.
Not many directors would follow an Oscar Best Picture win with a genre remake of a film with a mixed reception on its release almost 75 years ago. But that’s what Guillermo del Toro did with last year’s luxurious noir “Nightmare Alley,” his follow-up to 2017’s “The Shape Of Water.” “Nightmare Alley” didn’t quite catch on despite a great case, but maybe del Toro’s next film will bring a real shot of life.

The Diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin, released a new policy regarding LGBTQ students in its Catholic Schools that equates being transgender to being sexually abused. The Diocese, led by Bishop David Ricken, published the new gender policy last month in its Education Policy Manual for the 2022-2023 school year. The manual explains how to “restrict” participation in the Catholic education of transgender students, staff, volunteers, and ally parents. The manual contains a section titled “Catholic Principles of Human Sexuality,” which promote current Church doctrine on sexuality and gender, including the idea that there are only two sexes, that every person’s body, as created by God, cannot be altered through social transition or medical interventions, and that heterosexual marriage is the ideal relationship for raising children and continuing the propagation of the faith. The manual also compares homosexuality or “expressing a gender that is discordant with one’s biological sex” with other sinful behaviors that are viewed as reprehensible or crude among polite society, including: the use of vulgar language, “immodest dress or deportment,” masturbation, pornography, fornication, adultery, cohabitating outside of marriage, obtaining an abortion, and sexual harassment or abuse. Section 5045 of the “Education Policy Manual” mandates that trans and non-binary people be addressed as their gender at birth, rather than based on how they identify.Based on this understanding, schools are expected to refuse to allow trans-identifying children to use their preferred names or pronouns, access gender-specific facilities that do not match their assigned sex at birth, or take puberty blockers to prevent the onset of secondary sex
