A paddle boarder and their dog were rescued from a Scots bay yesterday after getting into trouble in the water.
The alarm was raised shortly after 3pm when HM Coastguard received reports of two people and an animal in danger at Luce Bay in Stranraer, Wigtownshire.
Stranraer Lifeboat was alerted to the incident and raced to the large bay, along with hero workers from Portpatrick and Drummore Coastguard teams who were also on standby to offer assistance.
A photo taken at the scene shows at least two Coastguard vehicles and a RNLI truck parked on the beach at Sandhead, which is located near Luce Bay.
Search and rescue teams, some of whom are decked out with safety equipment, gather near the shoreline while the rescue operation takes place.
Upon arrival, teams quickly brought one of the paddle boarders and the dog to safety. The pair were taken back to shore and left in the hands of the coastguard.
The other casualty had already made their way back to shore before crews arrived. The group's condition is not yet known and it is unclear whether any injuries were sustained or medical treatment was required as a result of the event.
Police Scotland were also called to the site. A spokesperson said: "Police received a concern for person call around 3pm on Sunday 31 July, 2022 from the Sands of Luce Caravan Park. RNLI dealt with the matter and the two people were brought back to shore."
