Olivia Wilde is not a fan of the constant hate she receives for just living her life.
In Elle’s new November cover story out on Thursday, the actress opened up about the criticism she has received for being “photographed not with” her son Otis, 8, and daughter Daisy, 6, whom she shares with ex-husband Jason Sudeikis.

Simply put, she reminded trolls:
It’s been a nasty custody battle, too, so this extra negativity from haters can’t be helping! But there’s another — perhaps bigger — reason she hasn’t been snapped with her kiddos either. She doesn’t “let them get photographed.” She explained:
Great point! Not every celeb wants their child to be thrown into the spotlight. Reasons aside, the assumptions swirling on the internet have upset her, she added:
When, in fact, she’s doing the exact opposite.
These comments come after Olivia’s already been the center of backlash for the drama surrounding her latest project, Don’t Worry Darling, which she directed and starred in alongside her boyfriend Harry Styles and rumored enemy Florence Pugh. Olivia dove into all that controversy in the new interview, too.
For starters, she complained about seeing the story “minimized into bite-size TikTok points.” When the interviewer suggested all publicity is good, she said her intention wasn’t to “throw [herself] into the flames for the movie.” The Booksmart director added:
There’s truth in that for sure, there’s a history of looking for feuds between famous women. But “the media” didn’t stop Florence from promoting the movie. And “the media” didn’t create that video she sent to Shia LaBeouf in which she was extremely dismissive of her star… Just sayin’…

OK, when Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde‘s nanny dropped her latest bombshell, we were a little skeptical.
Olivia Wilde joked about begging to be "placed into a medically induced coma" during her Don't Worry Darling press tour at ELLE's Women in Hollywood event on Monday. The filmmaker's latest movie was overshadowed by various dramas before its September release, with the headlines speculating if she was feuding with her lead actress Florence Pugh, whether her leading man Harry Styles spat on Chris Pine during the Venice Film Festival, and if she fired Shia LaBeouf from the movie or he quit. During her speech at the Getty Center in Los Angeles, honouree Olivia thanked her fellow women in Hollywood for helping her stay motivated during stressful times.
Pushing forward. Olivia Wilde detailed what motivates her to keep battling misogyny in Hollywood hours after she and ex Jason Sudeikis slammed their former nanny’s “false” claims about their split.
Olivia Wilde is a committed parent.
Now that it’s been in theaters for three weeks, one would hope the firestorm surrounding “Don’t Worry Darling” would have been doused and done away with. If we were only that lucky.

Because I don’t let them get photographed,» Wilde shared. «Do you know the lengths that I go to to protect my kids from being seen by you?»During her sprawling interview, Wilde also touched on the real-world drama surrounding her recent film, and how it feels that many people feel that celebrities somehow owe them access to their personal lives.«It is shocking to see so many untruths about yourself traded as fact,” she said.

Olivia Wilde claims that people "assume" she's "abandoned" her children, every time she is photographed without them. Wilde, 38, is regularly photographed out and about, more so following the drama of her latest film "Don't Worry Darling." The actress and director shares custody of her two children with ex Jason Sudeikis. "If I’m photographed not with my kids, people assume I have abandoned them, like my kids are just somewhere in a hot car without me," Wilde told Elle magazine in the November cover issue published Thursday. "The suggestion is that I have abandoned my role as a mother." Olivia Wilde wears a shirt that reads "Pleasing" on her way to gym in Los Angeles on Oct.
“Don’t Worry Darling,” according to a new interview. Wilde, 38 — who directed the film as well as starring with Pugh — said it’s “shocking” to see “so many untruths traded as fact,” in regards to the behind-the-scenes drama of the highly anticipated flick.Speaking with Ellefor the 2022 Women in Hollywood November issue, Wilde said Pugh made a “wise comment” when she recently quipped that the cast “didn’t sign up for a reality show.”“And I love that she put it that way, because it’s as though the general public feels that if you are making something that you’re selling to the public, you somehow have accepted that your life will be torn to shreds by a pack of wolves,” Wilde continued. “No, that’s actually not part of the job description.
Zack Sharf Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling” press tour was chaotic, to say the least. In a new interview with Elle magazine, Wilde expressed disappointment in how the media took all of the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding the film and “minimized [it] into bite-size TikTok points,” adding, “This film is trying to ask big questions, but [it’s] ‘Let’s just focus on this sideshow over here.’” Rumors circulated for months that Wilde and her “Don’t Worry Darling” lead Florence Pugh feuded on set. Social media users spent much of the film’s press tour hunting for confirmation wherever they could find it, be it Pugh’s lack of social media promotion for the movie or the duo keeping their distance during the film’s Venice Film Festival world premiere. Then drama erupted around Shia LaBeouf’s exit from the film, with LaBeouf leaking a video of Wilde trying to get him back despite clear reservations from Pugh over working with him. And don’t forget about the video of Harry Styles allegedly spitting on Chris Pine (both of their reps denied such an act took place).
A lot has been said about the “Don’t Worry Darling” sex scenes, but director Olivia Wilde insists there’s much more to the film.
Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh have been flooding headlines for months. While the two have both tried their best to dispel the rumors, the questions about what really happened behind the scenes of keep coming.
Her first film was Booksmart, and her second should have been titled Mediasmart. Instead it’s Don’t Worry Darling, and it’s been a worry from the outset.
We’ve heard tons about the feud between Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde on the set of Don’t Worry Darling. But it turns out there’s another actress from the film who has some issues — and unlike Miss Flo she’s voicing them on her social media.
Crew members on Don’t Worry Darling have publicly dismissed claims of a "screaming match" between actress Florence Pugh and director Olivia Wilde. After an unnamed source revealed to Vulture that Olivia and her lead actress were feuding and had screaming matches on set, crew members for the film released a joint statement refuting the claim. In Vulture’s 23 September report, the outlet wrote that an “inside source” saw Olivia and her boyfriend Harry Styles, who stars in the movie as Florence's husband, “just disappear” together while working.
"Don't Worry Darling" did not disappoint at the box office, darling. Olivia Wilde's sophomore release earned $19.2 million domestically, nabbing the top spot across theatrical releases nationwide.
