An Oldham pub has announced it will let children eat for free to ‘reverse the tide of inflation’, which has led to soaring food costs for millions of households. The White Hart Inn at Lydgate on Stockport Road announced the news via Facebook last week.
Children will now be able to eat for free from Monday to Thursday during ‘Family Hour’ from 5-6pm. The new offer means that a family of four can dine at the Oldham pub from £29, and pizzas are available from £7.50.
Taking to social media to announce the news, a post published by the team at The White Hart Inn read: “REVERSING the tide of inflation. From 12 September onwards with Monday to Thursday Family Hour children eat FREE, a family of four can dine from as little as £29 and pizza available from £7.50.”

The menu explains that for every main course from the brass monkey menu, one children’s meal with be free with dishes including Southern fried chicken nuggets with French fries and baked beans; pork sausages, mashed potatoes and baked beans or gravy; crispy haddock goujons, French fries and garden peas; and tomato and basil pasta with grated parmesan.
The news comes as inflation continues to drive up food prices and household bills. Last month grocery inflation hit a new record of 12.4%.
