‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Series To Feature ‘Star Wars’ Superfans As Extras

The last time we spoke was on the Disney lot for [animated series] “Star Wars: Rebels.” What was your time with Lucasfilm like and what happened there?Simon Kinberg: I don’t know how much liberty I’m able to say, but I will say that I think I’m allowed to say this and I have said it before and, and no snipers taken me out yet. I came onto “Star Wars” before it even sold to Disney. I came on very early in the process when George Lucas had hired Kathy Kennedy to take the company in a new creative direction and it was myself, Larry Kasdan and Michael Arndt.

Cameo alert! Many stars — including the likes of Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Natalie Portman and Adam Driver — have explored a galaxy far, far away in various Star Wars films or TV series. However, the main intergalactic adventurers are not the only stars that the sci-fi franchise has seen.

The 2nd annual Disney+ Day is upon us. Along with the streaming premieres of “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” and “Jungle Cruise,” and season two of “The World According To Jeff Goldblum,” the celebration also includes updates on many upcoming Marvel and Star Wars series.

Lord of the Rings trilogy is certainly in this category, with the starring cast synonymous with their roles. That includes Elijah Wood, who recently compared his Frodo fame to Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford in Star Wars.

Disney+ is sharing a sneak peek at its anticipated new series, which marks the return of one of the most enigmatic characters in the original “Star Wars” movies: bounty hunter Boba Fett.
