There’s nothing wrong with wanting to shelter in place somewhere other than New York City following the vandalism and looting by some outside factions after peaceful George Floyd racial justice protests. But in Meghan McCain‘s case, it appears she wanted to seem like she was hunkered down in Manhattan, while actually staying someplace else.

New York City police officers surrounded, shoved and yelled expletives at two Associated Press journalists covering protests Tuesday in the latest aggression against members of the media during a week of unrest around the country. Portions of the incident were captured on video by videojournalist Robert Bumsted, who was working with photographer Maye-E Wong to document the protests in lower Manhattan over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

New York City's second night under curfew was calmer than the first, with mostly peaceful demonstrators marching to protest the death of George Floyd and sporadic reports of vandalism. The citywide curfew from 8 p.m.

New York City extended an 8 p.m. curfew all week and said it would prohibit many types of nighttime traffic in Manhattan as officials struggled Tuesday to stanch destruction and growing complaints that the nation's biggest city was reeling out of control night by night.

Broken glass and burned piles of debris littered parts of New York City's early Tuesday after its first curfew in decades failed to prevent destruction as groups of people smashed their way into shops, including Macy's flagship Manhattan store. Police said more than 200 people were arrested and several officers were injured during the chaos Monday night and early Tuesday.

Workers swept up broken glass outside New York City luxury stores Monday after another night of destruction followed largely peaceful protests against police brutality in the wake of George Floyd's death. Workers boarded up a Chanel store in Soho, one of many in the historic district known for cobblestone streets and cast iron buildings where people smashed windows and grabbed merchandise overnight.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio‘s daughter was arrested during the Black Lives Matter protest on Saturday night (May 30). Chiara de Blasio was taken into custody around 10:30pm after police declared an unlawful assembly at 12th Street and Broadway in Manhattan, law enforcement sources shared with The Post.

New York City is on track to begin reopening June 8 as the state gradually loosens restrictions put in place during the novel coronavirus crisis, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Friday.Cuomo said the city was meeting goals set for hospital rates and testing, will "stockpile" personal protective equipment and will focus on infection rates in hot spots by ZIP code."We believe all of these things can be done next week," the Democratic governor said at his daily briefing.
