Ajax are close to appointing Alfred Schreuder as Erik ten Hag's successor at the Johan Cruyff Arena, according to reports.
It is widely reported that the Club Brugge boss is on the cusp of officially being announced as the Dutch giants' new chief as Ten Hag leaves the club to take charge at Manchester United. The Dutchman was announced as United's new boss last month and will officially start work at Old Trafford ahead of next season.
Ten Hag guided Ajax to their third Eredivisie title of his premiership on Wednesday evening, overseeing a 4-0 win over SC Heerenveen. It means that they have wrapped up the title with a game to spare, finding themselves four points clear of second-placed PSV Eindhoven.

In a bid to retain their league crown next season, Ajax have turned to fellow Dutchman Schreuder. He has worked at Ajax before, serving as the club's assistant manager for the second half of the 2018/19 campaign under Ten Hag, so he is no stranger to the Amsterdam heavyweights.
He left the club just a few months later to succeed Julian Nagelsmann as Hoffenheim head coach. He was sacked just under a year later in June 2020 and joined Barcelona, working as assistant manager with Ronald Koeman.
Schreuder, 49, then joined current club Club Brugge back in January this year. He has guided them to a second-placed finish in the regular Belgian Pro League season.
After wrapping up the Eredivisie title on Wednesday night, Ten Hag and his Ajax players laid their hands on the trophy and celebrated with the supporters. The post-match celebrations also featured a short speech and touching message from former United goalkeeper and current Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar.
