Each week, we here at Official Charts compile the best and most exciting releases of New Music Friday, to give you a chance to hear the future hits on the Official Singles and Albums Chart. Let's dive in!
Singles-wise this week, indie-rock darling Phoebe Bridgers returns with her first new music since 2020's Punisher. Sidelines comes out as the soundtrack for the BBC's upcoming adaption of Sally Rooney's Conversation With Friends (fun-fact; Phoebe's real-life partner Paul Mescal famously starred in another Rooney adaption, Normal People).
We also have the return of Jamie xx this week, Let's Do It Again is Jamie's first new music in two year - and more is set to follow. If he could also ask Romy to hurry along with her new solo album, that would be great too!
Conan Gray has just announced the release of his sophomore album Superache, coming this June, and he's just dropped a new single from it - Memories. It reunited Conan with Dan Nigro, the producer of his debut record Kid Krow, and Olivia Rodrigo's Sour, to boot.
One of this year's big breakout acts, Lauren Spencer-Smith, also debuts new single Flowers, her first single since signing a major-label record deal with Republic in the US. It's the follow-up to the heart-wrenching Fingers Crossed, which became Lauren's first UK Top 10 hit earlier this year.
As for albums...Anitta may be a superstar in her native Brazil, but she has her eyes set on world domination with her first English language studio album, Versions Of Me. Our favourite tracks, Boys Don't Cry and the delicious title track, show why that domination may not be too far off in the future.
