Nike's new England home kit has become a major talking point with a 'playful' version of the St George's Cross on the back of the strip causing a stir. Gareth Southgate's side will likely debut the new shirt in a friendly against Brazil at Wembley on Saturday night.
It's standard practice for teams to release new strips before major tournaments but Nike's latest iteration of an England kit has provoked outrage in some quarters. That is because a St George's Cross on the back of the shirt has been 'updated' by Nike to a multicoloured effort instead of the standard red and white.

I'm not bothered by the multicoloured cross on the back of the new England kit. I can see why people might have a problem with it, but a mountain has been made out of a molehill.
It's not that deep. I'm more worried about the prospect of Jordan Henderson starting for the Three Lions at another major tournament...
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course, but the outrage just seems a bit over the top. In my opinion, the debate has overshadowed a few much bigger problems with the shirt.
First and foremost, it's a V-neck – I'm not a fan of V-necks in general, let alone on football kits. Second of all, the star above the crest.
Why hide it? Show it off.
It's not the first time it's happened, either. Nike should have made the star the same colour as the crest border – navy blue.
It should stand out! And thirdly, the pricing of the shirt is obscene so I won't be buying it until it's on a discounted sale anyway.
