New DWP transfer timetable for people on PIP moving to Adult Disability Payment

Social Security Scotland has confirmed that it started moving existing Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants to Adult Disability Payment last month. It began the process of transferring cases from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to the new devolved benefit on June 13.
Some 313,620 existing PIP claimants living in Scotland will be transferred automatically to Adult Disability Payment between now and the end of summer 2024. Nobody needs to reapply for the new benefit and Social Security Scotland said people will get the same amount of Adult Disability Payment that they received for PIP if their circumstances have not changed.
It will take approximately three months to transfer someone’s award to the devolved welfare system and Social Security Scotland said it will write to people to inform them when to expect their first Adult Disability Payment and other important information including how to ensure they continue to receive any other benefits. As we previously reported, some changes may need to be reported to DWP or HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
Social Security Scotland has also shared a case transfer timeline to give existing PIP claimants an idea of when they can expect to have their award moved from DWP.

Social Security Scotland said: “We will write to people in advance to tell them when to expect the transfer.
“We will continue to transfer these awards until the end of summer 2024, welcoming approximately 300,000 people who currently receive Personal Independence Payment to Social Security Scotland.”
