State Pension provides essential financial support every four weeks for more than 12.5 million people across the UK, including 981,399 living in Scotland. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) recently updated online guidance to make it simpler for eight million pensioner households to find out if they are eligible for a £300 cost of living payment this winter. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) started issuing the first part of the £650 means-tested cost of living payment to more than one million people on Tax Credits on September 2 and expects most of the lump sums to have been made by Wednesday, September 7.
