New £55 heating payment due this month to help thousands of people in Scotland with winter energy bills

The Scottish Government has announced that people on a low income will start receiving a one-off payment for £55.05 this week to help with higher energy bills. Around 400,000 eligible households are due the Winter Heating Payment between now and the end of January, 2024.

The latest statistics from Social Security Scotland show that at the end of July, some 93,880 people were in receipt of Adult Disability Payment (ADP)and of those, 42,620 were new applicants and 51,260 were existing Personal Independence Payment (PIP) case transfers.
