Millions of households across Great Britain are set to receive £300 this Autumn as part of the £900 cost of living payment support, with a further £299 due next Spring. No confirmed details about a payment window or the qualifying period have been announced by the UK Government yet, despite widespread online speculation.
However, an announcement may be on the way soon based on the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) response given to Labour MP Matt Western on Friday. The Warwick and Leamington MP asked DWP when the £300 cost of living payments will be made.
In a written response on September 15, Minister for Social Mobility, Youth and Progression, Mims Davies MP, said: “Qualifying dates for the means-tested cost of living Payments are being set out in secondary legislation and payment dates for the vast majority of people will be announced on our dedicated page on gov.uk once the relevant regulations have been made.”
The DWP Minister added: “All cost of living payments will be paid automatically in the same way benefit payments are made, meaning those eligible do not need to apply or take any action in order to receive it.”

The only information confirmed by the UK Government is that the payment for £300 will be made in the Autumn. This payment will be tax-free, will not count towards the benefit cap, and will not have any impact on existing benefit awards.
No details have been announced yet.
Nobody needs to apply for any of the cost of living payments, these will be made automatically to eligible claimants in receipt of a qualifying benefit.
