Netflix fans 'on verge of tears' as popular series cancelled after two seasons

Netflix subscribers are heartbroken after the streaming service cancelled a popular fantasy series after just two seasons. The platform axed five shows in total last week including Shadow and Bone, based on Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse novels - the Shadow and Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology.
Plans for a Six Of Crows spin-off - which had already been written - have also been scrapped. The show's huge fanbase has pushed back against the decision to cull the shows.
Shadow and Bones first season premiered in April 2021 and was renewed for a second series just two months later. The second season dropped in March this year, but fans quickly grew anxious with no word on its future.

The series stars Jesse Mei as Alina Starkov, an orphan soldier who discovers she has special powers. Sinister forces plot against her as she fights to reunite her world.
Confirming both the Shadow and Bone's and Six Of Crows' cancellations via Instagram, author Leigh said she was 'heartbroken and deeply disappointed.' However she said she had 'gratitude,' stating: “Most authors never get to see their work adapted. Many who do end up regretting the experience. I’m one of the very few who can look at an adaptation with pride and tremendous joy.”
Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their dismay at the cancellations. @hermyrtodd wrote: "on the verge of tears that shadow and bone got cancelled!!! HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO ME PERSONALLY!!!!!! I JUST READ THE BOOKS!!!!!" as @jernaberth said: "logging off in
