Netflix has confirmed the release date for the final season of gripping crime drama Top Boy.

The drama, created and written by Ronan Bennett, has had a bumpy journey and was almost finished for good in 2013. It began on Channel 4 in 2011 before being cut in just two years later.

It was then rescued by Netflix with the help of Drake in 2017. The Canadian rapper was such a fan of the show that he helped pitch the idea to the streaming giant and has since served as executive producer, while the original crew have continued to work on the show.
In March last year, it was confirmed the drama had been renewed for another season. In its latest announcement, the official Top Boy Twitter account confirmed the final series would drop on September 7.
The account posted a new trailer, along with the caption: "No. Loose. Ends... The Final Chapter. September 7".

Top Boy's official season synopsis reads: "Sully’s actions at the end of the last series have rewritten his business rules with Dushane. As new shared problems arise, everything they've built comes under threat from forces outside and within their empire.
"Can they coexist by the rules of the road they’ve lived by their whole lives in a world that is changing before them? Or can there only be one Top Boy?"
