A beloved Japanese manga is being turned into a live-action series for the very first time.
One Piece, which follows Monkey D. Luffy on his quest to become King of Pirates, originally debuted in the Weekly Shōnen Jump anthology magazine some 26 years ago. The adventure series has already had a flurry of on-screen adaptations since; a long-running anime series, 15 animated films and 40 video games.
Created by author Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is so popular thanks to its expansive universe, creative characters and sense of humour. The fan-favourite franchise has sold 516.5 million worth of books, positioning Oda the tenth bestselling fiction writer of all time.

Now, One Piece's first live-action adaptation is coming to Netflix this August.
One Piece follows young adventurer Monkey D. Luffy, who has longed for a life of freedom since he can remember. Luffy sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, One Piece, in order to become King of the Pirates.
However he must assemble his own crew before finding a ship to sail, searching every inch of the sea. There he encounters rivals at every turn - but can he remain victorious?
Iñaki Godoy stars as Laffey in the live-action series. The 20-year-old Mexican actor has previously appeared in TV series The Imperfects and thriller-comedy MexZombies.
