Netflix will rise prices across its platforms, the streaming giant has confirmed.The streaming platform is set to hike prices by up to £24 a year depending on which plan you're on. For customers on its basic and standard plan, prices will go up by £1 a month to £6.99 and £10.99 respectively.
Customers will be charged an extra £2 for the premium package, which will now cost £15.99.The price increase is set to start immediately for new customers, whereas existing members will be informed about the changes with at least 30 days notice before the hike. A Netflix spokesperson said: "We have always been focused on providing our members both quality and clear value for their membership. "Our updated prices reflect the investment we have made in our service and catalogue, and will allow us to continue making the series, documentaries and films our members love as well as investing in talent and the creative industry.
"We offer a range of plans so members can choose a price that works best for them." The price hike comes after the service recently released the second trailer for its massive hit Bridgerton. On Wednesday, Netflix delighted fans by releasing the Shonda Rhimes-produced period drama trailer, set to return to the streaming service on March 25.

Spotify has shuttered its Moscow office in response to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.Confirming its Moscow office would be closed “indefinitely”, the streaming platform said they were “providing individual support to our personnel” in Moscow, as well as their “global community of Ukrainian employees”.The new measures have come into place as sanctions have made processing payments in the country impossible.“Due to new restrictions introduced by major payment providers, payment processing is not currently possible for the majority of Premium users in Russia,” a Spotify spokesman told AFP (via Geo News).They added that paid premium accounts “will be cancelled if a recurring payment fails and the account will then be automatically moved to our free service”. The company said it had also “paused all advertising campaigns running in Russia.”In addition to restricting the discoverability of Russian state-affiliated media, the platform previously removed all content from Kremlin-backed outlets RT and Sputnik that was hosted on Spotify in the European Union and other markets.Spotify has stopped short of shutting off access for their Russian users, saying they believe it’s “critically important to try to keep our service operational in Russia to allow for the global flow of information”.

Netflix has suspended its service in Russia entirely in protest of the country’s invasion of Ukraine.The streaming service joins a growing list of companies that have stopped serving Russia since the full-scale invasion began on February 24.Netflix had previously announced a hold on Russian projects and acquisitions and refused to carry 20 Russian propaganda channels that it was required to host under Russian law. Now, the service has been shut down entirely in the country.“Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our service in Russia,” a spokesperson told Variety of the move.The platform’s previous sanctions on the country had seen four Russian original works put on pause.
