How often have you heard the phrase ‘people are our strongest asset’? When it comes to health and social care, it’s so true.

The Scottish Health Awards is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible efforts of this talented health and social care workforce. This year, like many others, NHS Education for Scotland is sponsoring the Leader of the Year Award.
NHS Education for Scotland, or NES as it is known, is responsible for educating, training and developing our health and social care workforce. This includes making sure it has the right people with the right skills to improve health outcomes for all of the communities across Scotland. NES also wants to ensure the staff have the opportunity to transform care.
That’s why awards like this are so important. By recognising outstanding leaders, others who want to improve the system and make things better for everyone can be inspired.
Great leadership is vital to delivering high-quality health and social care services and there are lots of great leaders working already. Leading well requires a range of skills and these skills can be developed with the right training and support.
That’s where NES comes in. It delivers a range of programmes and learning resources supporting leaders at all levels. These are designed to create empowering, inspirational and compassionate leaders and help to identify and develop the health and social care leaders of the future. Our programmes - which can be found on the Leadership and Management Programmes
