Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, have announced details of their self-titled debut album and shared its lead single.‘Complete Mountain Almanac’ was formed after Karijord set out to make an album “about climate change in 12 suites, representing the 12 months of the year,” and approached her friend of 15 years, Jessica – who works as a poet, dancer and multimedia artist based in Italy – to contribute “poetic and lyrical” elements to the project.The band and album’s title came from a book of poetry written by Jessica in the wake of her breast cancer diagnosis, as well as coming to reflect the environmental themes on the record. Jimmy Eat World have shared their new single ‘Place Your Debts’ – you can listen to the track below.Self-produced by the band, the song follows on from the four-piece’s June single ‘Something Loud’ and its subsequent acoustic rearrangement, which arrived in September.‘Place Your Debts’ was written by Jimmy Eat World in collaboration with Clark Baechle (The Faint) and Denver Dalley (Desaparecidos). “The ‘debt’ you rack up is the time you spend avoiding doing the work to know yourself,” frontman Jim Adkins explained in a statement.“You buy an ending every time you start something, and the cost is determined by how closely you pay attention to your personal condition,” he added.A video for ‘Place Your Debts’, which you can watch below, has also arrived today (October 19).Directed by and starring Adkins, the clip was filmed throughout the UK, US and Europe during the band’s recent tour.“It’s a series of many, many edits of me singing to the camera,” the frontman explained.

Neil Young has announced the 50th anniversary reissue of his 1972 album ‘Harvest’.The veteran folk star will celebrate half a century of his seminal fourth album with a deluxe reissue that’s released on December 2 via Reprise (pre-order). Included in the reissue is a documentary called Harvest Time, from which Young has shared a previously unreleased live recording of him performing ‘Heart Of Gold’ for the BBC.Available on 3xLP or 3xCD, the box set will come with the following: the original album; three studio outtakes; the BBC solo set recorded on February 23, 1971; and Harvest Time. Also included is a hardbound photo book, posters, and liner notes by photographer Joel Bernstein.The outtakes included in the reissue are ‘Bad Fog Of Loneliness’, ‘Journey Through The Past’ and ‘Dance Dance Dance’.

Florence + The Machine have shared a new live album recorded at their huge Madison Square Garden show in New York last month.The gig took place on September 17 as part of a world tour behind Florence’s new album ‘Dance Fever’, and a 24-track live album of the performance has hit streaming services today (October 14).The career-spanning set begins with recent single ‘Heaven Is Here’, with ‘Dance Fever’ songs ‘Free’, ‘King’ and more also aired.The live album then finishes with renditions of huge hits ‘Shake It Out’ and ‘Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)’.Listen to the whole thing below.The North American leg of the ‘Dance Fever’ world tour will wrap up tonight (October 14) with a show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Dan Auerbach‘s band The Arcs have announced their first album in eight years, ‘Electrophonic Chronic’.The Black Keys frontman’s side project released their debut studio record, ‘Yours, Dreamily’, back in 2015. Its 12-track follow-up is due to arrive on January 27, 2023 via Auerbach’s own label Easy Eye Sound (pre-order here).Today (October 13), The Arcs have shared the first preview of the forthcoming project in the form of ‘Keep On Dreamin”, which arrives with an animated official video by Robert “Roboshobo” Schober.‘Electrophonic Chronic’ will also include the cuts ‘Heaven Is A Place’, ‘A Man Will Do Wrong’, ‘Backstage Mess’ and ‘Love Doesn’t Live Here Anymore’.The Arcs’ original line-up – completed by Leon Michels, Nick Movshon, Homer Steinweiss, and the late Richard Swift (who died in 2018, aged 41) – contributed to the new album, per a press release.It was recorded between Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, Electric Lady in Manhattan, and Michels’ Diamond Mine in Queens, New York.

NOFX have announced their new record ‘Double Album’, a follow-up to this February’s ‘Single Album’, to be released on December 2.Having announced earlier this month that they intend to break up in 2023, it is likely that the album will be the band’s final release.The announcement comes along with a new single titled ‘Darby Crashing Your Party’, an homage to the late Germs frontman Darby Crash.In a press release, NOFX frontman Fat Mike described the album as “maybe our funniest” release.“You have to laugh at everything because the world is just falling apart and you have to have a good attitude not to take things seriously,” he said.“So this is how I’ve always done it. I make people laugh every day.

But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t reserved the right to weigh in — subtly — when his music is licensed for commercials going forward. Young seems to not be entirely approving of an NFL ad over the weekend that used Beck’s newly commissioned cover version of “Old Man” as its soundtrack. The veteran rocker did not weigh in on the Beck cover or its usage directly, and he could not be reached for comment. But Young seemed to say it all with an image that was posted to his official Instagram account Monday.

Blur drummer Dave Rowntree has announced details of his debut solo album ‘Radio Songs’ and shared new single ‘Devil’s Island’.The record, which is released via Cooking Vinyl on January 23, 2023, was produced by Leo Abrahams, who has previously worked with Wild Beasts, Brian Eno, Ghostpoet.“The idea of Radio Songs is me spinning through the dial,” he said. “It sounds like you’ve got a radio tuned to some static and you spin the dial, and the song pops out of it.
