Australian soap opera Neighbours is due to return to our screens in September, but fans aren’t happy about one key change to the show. The iconic series was famously axed by Channel 5 last year, but has since found a home on Amazon freevee’s network and will see the return of some much loved characters to the small screen.
However while old favourites such as Karl and Susan Kennedy will be making a return, alongside Jarrod ‘Toadie’ Rebecchi and even Jane ‘Superbrain’ Harris, the show’s much-loved theme tune will also be revamped for the rebooted series. The iconic tune, which was originally performed by Barry Crocker all the way back in 1985 and has been through numerous incarnations over the years, will still be returning, however this time, it will be performed by The Voice Australia’s very own Chris Sebastian.
In a promotional video released ahead of the show’s return next month, the Neighbours social media accounts showed some of its biggest stars listening to the new track for the first time. While most of the cast seemed to be impressed by the new version, some fans at home were less than impressed, with one even suggesting former star Delta Goodrem would have been a better choice! Taking to social media to vent their frustration, one fan wrote: "Excited by the cast, the trailer and the return.
