The first Sudanese film ever to screen in Cannes official selection, “Goodbye Julia” is the story of two women — one from the North, the other from the South — who are brought together by fate in a complex relationship that attempts to reconcile differences between northern and southern Sudanese communities in the currently war-ravaged country.

Set in the scenic Sila plateau in Italy’s Southern Calabria region, “Home Education” revolves around a family that are followers of an esoteric cult and live in a secluded house deep in the woods. Warner Bros Entertainment Italia, Italy’s Indiana Production and BlackBox Multimedia are producing with support from the Calabria Film Commission. Germany’s SquareOne Productions is handling international sales. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film in Italian theaters.

Amber Heard is headed back to the big screen. The 37-year-old actress, who has stepped away from the limelight since losing the 2022 defamation case brought by her ex-husband Johnny Depp, 60,  will appear in the upcoming thriller In The Fire, which is set to premiere at the 69th Taormina Film Festival in Italy. It will be the first time she has promoted a film since her court battle, reported Deadline.

Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor Actor Alex Newell made history at this year’s Tony Awards, becoming the first openly nonbinary performer to win an acting prize for their performance as Lulu in Jack O’Brien’s “Shucked.” “Thank you for seeing me Broadway,” Newell said. “I should not be up here as a queer, non-binary, fat, Black, little baby from Massachusetts. And to anyone that thinks that they can’t do it, I’m going to look you dead in your face that you can do anything you put your mind to.” Newell isn’t the only nonbinary actor nominated at the Tonys, with J. Harrison Ghee among the shortlisted performers for lead actor (musical) for their performance as Jerry/Daphne in Casey Nicholaw’s “Some Like It Hot.” Ghee and Newell already walked into the ceremony making history as the first nonbinary-identifying actors recognized.

ENHYPEN have been named Prada’s newest brand ambassador.The seven-member K-pop group’s appointment as the Italian luxury fashion house’s new ambassadors was first reported today (June 9) by Women’s Wear Daily and the K-pop Herald.“We’re delighted and honoured to be a part of this partnership as new brand ambassadors of Prada,” ENHYPEN said in a statement, per WWD. “The synergy Prada and ENHYPEN will create is something we’re very excited to witness and greatly looking forward to.”According to the K-pop Herald, ENHYPEN will start to “[participate] in different brand activities and global events as the rising stars of fashion” as part of their ambassadorship with Prada.ENHYPEN being named ambassadors for Prada comes shortly after the K-pop boyband were spotted at the luxury fashion brand’s Fall 2023 Menswear show during Milan Fashion Week in January, per Teen Vogue.ENHYPEN are the latest South Korean celebrities to sign with Dior as an ambassador for the brand.

The Yes Studios-produced scripted format has had seven adaptations since 2020, including the Showtime series, alongside versions in India, France, Russia, Germany, Italy and Turkey. Other top-performing scripted formats with five or six new adaptations since 2020 include ITV’s he said-she said thriller “Liar” out of Britain; Stan’s Australian police comedy “No Activity”; Argentinian parenting telenovela “Dear Daddies” from Telefe; and the French showbiz dramedy “Call My Agent!” from M6.

Fellini co-wrote the tale of two Neapolitan kids who embark on a ship to New York to escape Italy’s early postwar poverty with his frequent collaborator Tullio Pinelli, a writer on the Italian maestro’s “La Dolce Vita” and “8 1/2,” as well as other titles. Italian A-lister Pierfrancesco Favino (“The Traitor,” “Nostalgia”) stars as the chief officer of the ship which the two kids, named Carmine and Celestina, manage to board surreptitiously in the port of Naples, becoming clandestine passengers. The youngsters are on a mission to reach the U.S. where they dream of living with Celestina’s sister, who emigrated to New York two years earlier. Brian Eno has announced a European tour for this autumn, marking his first solo tour in his five-decade career.The ‘Ships’ tour will commence on October 21 in Venice, Italy. Built around his 2016 album, ‘The Ship’, the live shows will feature both new and old compositions from his catalog. The Baltic Sea Philharmonic with conductor Kristjan Järvi, actor Peter Serafinowicz, and Eno’s longtime collaborators Leo Abrahams and Peter Chilvers will all back the musician on the tour.“The album ‘The Ship’ is an unusual piece in that it uses voice but doesn’t particularly rely on the song form.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Acclaimed Chinese auteur filmmaker Jia Zhang-ke has set “We Shall Be All” as his next feature directing project. It is his first in the five years since his “Ash Is Purest White,” which premiered in Cannes in 2018. Describing the project as a “dismantling of dystopia,” Jia says that the new film is set across the first two decades of the 21st century and tells the story of how a Chinese woman lives to herself in silence, celebrating the prosperous Belle Epoque with songs and dance. Some 22 years in the making, the film’s first elements were shot as far back as 2001. The balance will be filmed later this year. No release schedule has been indicated.
