My Mum, Your Dad power couple Roger Hawes and Janey Smith sparked engagement rumours as fans told mum Janey to 'go for it' as she insisted she's an "independent person" who would consider proposing. The couple found a connection on camera, and are still going strong, more than six months after meeting on the reality series.
The TV stars, who were nominated by their children Jess and William to appear on MMYD, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday to mark February 29, as they discussed the tradition of Leap Year proposals. Janey surprised viewers as she revealed that she'd be "totally happy proposing" as she explained that "it shouldn't really matter who says it." Roger and Janey joined Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley to discuss how the leap date is supposedly the day that women can get down on one knee and propose.
Host Richard asked Roger: "Would you feel emasculated if she proposed to you?" Roger shook his head as he replied: "No, I think we need to get away from that, I think it empowers the woman. What a brilliant story to tell - she asked me!" Richard cheekily then asked: "Remind me, who proposed to who between the two of you?" Janey quickly replied: "We're not married." Then Richard quipped: "But you're going to be aren't you? I thought you were engaged?" Janey shook her head as Kate added: "'This is your moment to go for it!" Then Janey hinted at their future marriage plans as she explained: "Be careful Kate, calm it.
