My Mum, Your Dad contestant Sharon Benson has announced that she is 'heartbroken' as her dad sadly passed away today (February 28).
The 53 year old posted on her Instagram Stories that her dad has died just months after her mum's passing. She wrote: "Mam & Dad 56 years together, you just wanted to be with her... She'll probably have a go at you for missing her birthday.
My Dad passed away peacefully 3am... we are heartbroken." Sharon's emotional post follows the death of her mother in September. At the time she announced the sad news to social media with a black-and-white photo of her mum, which she captioned: "Finally she is at peace, sweet dreams Mama".
Sharon starred in last year's series My Mum, Your Dad - hosted by Davina McCall - which aimed to connect single parents together in the hope of finding love - all while under the watchful eye of their grown up children. On the show, she appeared to hit it off with Elliot Davidson, however the star revealed late last year that the pair had decided to part ways. However, Sharon did say that Elliot met her mum and dad before their passing, as he joined the family at Sharon's dad's birthday party.
After the ITV show finished airing, Sharon shared some lovely photos of the birthday party, which saw Elliott smiling alongside her and the family at the special occasion. Sharon captioned the emotional post: "Dads 80th Birthday celebration & Mams last dance with Dad". However, it later emerged the pair had decided to part ways they struggled to make the relationship work, and Elliot exclusively told OK! that he and Sharon were still on ‘good terms’.
