Parents naming twins either make sure they pick different ones to avoid confusion, or play into it and give them ''matching' monikers. One mum-to-be decided to do the latter - but regreted it when a co-worker laughed so hard at her children's names that human resources (HR) got involved, reports the Mirror.
Posting on Reddit, the co-worker explained how a woman at work welcomed twin boys into the world after struggling with infertility. Although they were delighted on her behalf, the employee couldn't help but question the names she gave her twins.
They said: "She has made her first appearance in the office with her new babies to introduce them to our team. When asked what she had named the boys (as up until this appearance she was undecided) she told me that she was naming them 'Sean'.
"When I asked about the other baby, she said 'no, they are both Sean, one with an 'A' and one with an 'E' so Sean and Seen. This co-worker's last name is also 'Sean'. When I pointed this out she said 'yes, like Tom Tom or Jay Jay'."
The co-worker explained how without thinking, they told the woman: "That is the most idiotic thing I've heard and it's going to be so confusing." After the situation, they started receiving messages from others saying it wasn't their place to make that comment.
In an update, they posted shared how the husband came across the Reddit post and admitted it prompted the couple to change the names, especially after reading the comments.
