When Ellie Evans' young son got a little artistic with her leather furniture, she had to get inventive to save them.
The Woolton mum used her DIY skills to upcycled the seats, with help from an inexpensive Dunelm purchase, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Ellie shared the transformation to the DIY On A Budget Official Facebook group and received over 4k likes for her attempt.
She explained: “I’d just moved house and my son had scribbled all over the chairs.
“I didn’t want to get rid of them as they were good quality, so I started looking online for sofa covers when I discovered these teddy ones from Dunelm and I loved them.”
The Dunelm Teddy Armchair covers are available to purchase online and are priced at £30.
The armchair covers are available in four different colours which are taupe, charcoal, grey and cream. Ellie continued: “It took about an hour to recover both of them, the seat pad comes separate in the seat and the rest of the seat cover has the arm corners sewn into it.” “I placed the corners over the arms and when I was happy with the positioning I stapled the covers in place.
“I pulled the excess fabric under the sofa and stapled it in place to keep it smooth.”
With the help of her mum who is a seamstress, Eli was able to completely transform the armchairs without having to purchase new ones.
All she needed was the Dunelm product and an upholstery staple gun to carry out the transformation.
One Facebook user commented: “Looks so comfy and warm!”
Another added: “It's nice to see these on furniture! I work for Dunelm and these look really cute.”
