Mum says Tina O'Brien stepped in to defend her daughter after incident outside her house in Stockport

Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien has been praised for 'stepping in' to defend a teenage girl caught up in a brawl 'over boys' outside her home in Stockport. The mother of the 15-year-old girl told the Sun that she is 'extremely grateful' to the soap star for intervening.
Greater Manchester Police are investigating reports of an assault outside the 40-year-old's home in Bramhall on Friday (March 15). Footage of the alleged incident, which has been published by the Sun, appeared to show Tina caught in the middle of a brawl.
In the video, it appears that her hair was pulled and she was punched as she wrestled a youth during the brawl. Tina was given time off work after the alleged incident which left her 'traumatised', the Mail reports, with ITV bosses said to be supporting the actress.

The mother of the alleged victim has now spoken out. She told the Sun: "Tina has been pretty brave in stepping in. Tina is only little herself and she was defending my daughter, so I am extremely grateful to her.
"You can hear in her voice on the video that she is frightened. This is also not like her, and she is a really good person.
"I have thanked her and would have done the same if it was my house."
A spokesperson for Tina, who plays Sarah Barlow aka Platt in Coronation Street, told the Mirror that the alleged incident was 'unprovoked'. The spokesperson said: "Tina was the victim of an unprovoked incident outside her home which she has reported to the police."
A source close to the actress also said she had been left 'deeply disturbed' by the incident, according to reports.
