A mum-of-three who was forced to raise her kids in a rat-infested home for YEARS says they have been 'living in fear' after housing bosses failed to solve the problem.
Emily, who chose to keep her real name private, said her young children have found rat poo in their beds and refuse to touch the floor of their own home. She claims the Salford property, managed by Salix homes, would constantly smell due to rotting rodents which could be 'heard' in the walls.
Emails seen by the Manchester Evening News show repeated attempts to contact Salix homes about the infestation since 2020. Emily says Salix did attend on a number of occasions but failed to implement any long term solution. Speaking to the M.E.N, Salix homes said they 'wholeheartedly apologise' for the situation. They have moved the family to temporary accommodation as well as offering them a new, permanent home.

Distressing images taken by the mum-of-three show dead rats she discovered in her home, and holes in the skirting board where the creatures chewed through the walls. Video footage captured by Emily's daughter, aged just eight, shows the rodents running wild in the property.
Emily said she took the home because she was 'desperate,' and was initially told an historic rat problem had been dealt with. But she claims she has spent years 'constantly bleaching, washing and de-fleaing everything daily,' and despite repeated attempts to get in touch with Salix homes, never felt they took the issue seriously.
