A woman has claimed she 'woke up' during gallbladder surgery, 'paralysed and unable to scream'.
Natasha Japhet, 33, from Wales, said she was 'screaming in my head' during the surgery but 'couldn't move'. Now back home, recovering from the traumatic experience, the mother of four said she could 'feel everything' during the procedure.
The chef opened up about her horrific experience at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, on Tuesday September 19, reports North Wales Live.
"All I remember was I woke up during the operation. I was aware and I heard voices around me asking for the camera. I felt like I couldn't breathe," she claimed.
"I was 'screaming' in my head but I was 'paralysed' because I couldn't move. But I couldn't tell them.
"I think I passed out with the pain that I had because I could feel everything that they were doing. I passed out when they inserted two rods into my stomach."
A little later Natasha says she woke up again: "There were voices around me and then I heard 'Oh my God - she's awake. Do something," she claimed.
"I think they must have done something then to put me back to sleep properly this time. And when I did come round in recovery the anaesthetist started questioning me straight away."
She claimed they asked her "What do you remember under anaesthesia?" and she said "I remember lying there and not being able to breathe, not being able to move and 'screaming' in my head that I was awake and for you to stop."
Half an hour later she was back in the ward and was told to give a statement to medical staff, Natasha said. She was on the ward by about 6.30pm and was discharged at 8.30pm.
